Ingredients

12 small frankfurters

230 g (8.1 oz) puff pastry

1 egg yolk

1 tbsp whole milk

Poppy seeds (for eyes)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cut puff pastry into 12 thin strips (~3/8 inch wide).

Wrap each sausage with a pastry strip, leaving one end uncovered for the “face.”

Beat egg yolk and milk together; brush mixture over wrapped sausages.

Bake for 40 minutes or until golden.

Let cool slightly, then poke two holes in the exposed sausage end and place poppy seeds as eyes.
Notes
Keep the pastry chilled to make wrapping easier.
Substitute poppy seeds with black sesame seeds or edible eyes if preferred.
Prepare wrapped sausages in advance and refrigerate before baking.
Serve with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dips.
