Description

This rich and creamy homemade caramel is made with just four simple ingredients. Perfect as a topping for desserts, fruits, or coffee!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 g granulated sugar

  • 50 ml water

  • 125 ml heavy cream (room temperature)

  • 40 g unsalted butter (room temperature)

Instructions

  • Add sugar and water to a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves.

  • Once dissolved, increase the heat to high and do not stir. Let it boil for 3–4 minutes until it turns light golden.

  • Remove from heat. Carefully stir in the warm cream and butter — it may bubble up.

  • Stir until smooth and creamy. Let it cool to room temperature before serving or storing.

Notes

Don’t stir while boiling — it can cause crystallization.

Use room temperature cream and butter to prevent splattering.

Add a pinch of sea salt for salted caramel or a drop of vanilla extract for extra flavor.

Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Reheat gently before use.
